An Incredibly Easy Way to Get More People in your Network Marketing Business: Tips From Ray Higdon
Are you one of the millions of people who are afraid to talk to people about their network marketing business? Here are a few network marketing business tips I learned from superstar recruiter, Ray Higdon.
The good news is that in this economy, more people than ever are looking for additional ways to earn money, so you have literally millions more people who are now open to looking at non-traditional ways to earn money than even 10-20 years ago. Most people (it’s been estimated to be more than 80%) are not happy in the jobs they have. And that gives you a wide open playing field.
The only thing is, you got to get out there and talk to them.
Simple truth: if you don’t talk to people, they won’t join you in your business.
So many network marketers get really nervous about talking to people about their business, and the sad truth is, many of them were not properly trained.
I know, you don’t want to come off looking “sales-y” or that you are pitching someone. People love to buy, but they hate to be sold. Most people who have a network marketing business don’t know how to strike up a conversation with someone, and you could be one of them.
Here is a very simple way to approach someone without it looking like you are trying to sell to them. You can start with people in the same profession you are working in (or have worked in). You are not doing a sales pitch, you are just asking questions. Ray Higdon is famous for using the words “side project” when talking to prospects about his business.
For example, let’s say you are a teacher. You can go up to (or call) a teacher friend of yours and say, “Hi (name), I’m working with a few teachers on a side project and we’re looking for a few more teachers who would be open to earning extra money. If you were in my shoes and you were looking for more sharp teachers, what would you do to market to them?”
Same thing with realtors, “Hi (name), I’m working with a few sharp Realtors on a side project and we’re looking for a few more Realtors who would be open to earning extra money. If you were in my shoes and you were looking for more sharp Realtors, what would you do to market to them? Or what would you do to market to them?”
You can do the same thing with practically any profession: mortgage brokers, financial planners, car salespeople, doctors, nurses, attorneys, etc.
A sharp person will say back to you “what do you have?” When they do that, you can then talk to them about what you do. But do NOT say too much. The temptation will be there for you to “verbally throw up” on them with your opportunity. Don’t do that.
You can answer back with an answer and a question immediately, “well it’s a side project that helps people earn some extra money. How would you approach other _________?” (fill in the blank with the type of profession you are talking about, like teachers, Realtors, etc)
Or, you could say, “It’s a side project that helps people earn some extra money. Why do you ask?” And if they respond back that they are interested, you can say, “Oh, sure, I’d be happy to send over some info for you to look at and see if it’s a good fit for you. By the way, what is it that has you open to taking a look?” When you ask that question, you are getting to their “why” for joining you in your business, and that is super important information to have, because you can help tailor your presentation to meet their needs.
Using these network marketing business tips will do 3 Things:
1. Worst case- you get ideas
2. You get referrals
3. You may even get a sign up from the person you are talking to
Remember, you can use this incredibly simple approach with practically any profession: Realtors, doctors, nurses, teachers, chiropractors, small business owners, personal trainers, mortgage brokers.
There will be very little resistance.
The minimum you get is ideas, referrals, and possibly signups. But if you don’t talk to them, they will never join you. And, just like it’s true with anything, the more you do it, the easier and more natural it gets.
