Home Business Tips: Belief, the Most Critical Factor in Your Success

home business tips belief critical factorMillions of people in home business are always looking for home business tips on the “How To’s” of success, but often overlook something that is even more important than the “how to” and that has to do with belief. You could be overflowing with skills and great habits, but none of that matters if you don’t believe in what you are doing. When you are in a home business, especially one that requires recruiting and team building in order to create a significant residual income, there is one critical factor, the most important factor in your level of success, and that is belief.

You could have the skills, the knowledge, the know-how about your business and the products, but if you don’t have belief in 4 key areas, there won’t be many dollars deposited into your bank account.

Do you ever wonder why some people have success and others struggle so much? There are many reasons, but probably the most important one has to do with belief. For example, you may have been in your home business several months or even years and only have enrolled a couple people or a handful of people, but you might know of someone in your company, who after only 1-2 months into the business, has recruited 20 or 30 people! You scratch your head thinking, “what the heck? I’ve been here for 2 years and recruited 3 people. How does Joe come in and recruit 20 in his first 2 months?”

A big part of that has to do with belief. How do you increase that?

I want you to do a little self-test. A gut-check, if you will.

Sit down and relax your body. I’m going to ask you 4 questions and I want you to pay attention to how you feel in the pit of your stomach when I ask them. Notice whether you feel a hot-clenching, nervous feeling in the pit of your stomach when I ask the question, or if you feel peace and calm. Because your “feeling” will determine what your belief level is. It’s probably even better if you ask yourself these questions aloud.

Ready?

  1. Do you believe in the company you are connected with?
  2. Do you believe in the products you are selling in your home business? (Are the products as good as you are telling people they are? Are they as effective as the company is saying they are?)
  3. Do you believe in your company’s leadership? (What about the integrity and character of the leaders in your company? Do they set the example of someone you’d want to model after in and out of business environment? Would you want them eating dinner with your family at your home?)
  4. Do you believe in yourself that a) you can do this business, and can get the success you desire and b) that you are the leader your prospects are looking for?

Think about the feeling you get when you read those questions. Better yet, read them aloud in the first person (“Do I believe…), slowly, and see how you feel in your gut. If you have doubt and are not at peace with all 4 of those areas, then you will likely struggle in your business until you can resolve those issues.

You either need to find a way to get comfortable about everything, or consider realigning yourself with something that is a better match for who you are, what you stand for and what you can feel really good about doing. It might result in a change of leadership, a change of company or even a change of industry.

When I look back on the past several years in the home business arena, I find that the times I’ve had the most success, were the times I had the most belief. When I had the strongest belief that I could do it, and I believed in the company, the products, the leadership and my abilities, I had no trouble recruiting. But when doubt seeped in around me in any of those areas, I couldn’t recruit or build my business.

Of course all growth will take us out of our comfort zones. That is not what I am talking about. When I talk about belief, you have to know in your gut that you are doing the right thing and that you are aligned with the right people and the right business. Personally, it took me going through some big changes to get where I am today.

It may be time for you to reflect on what you are doing and who you are impacting with the decisions you are making. Take some time and search your heart for where you are right now and where you would like to be. Because if you HAVE belief, you can go out and get that success or whatever it is you are looking for.

    Sarah,
    You nailed it!(Again)
This is exactly why I suffered from ‘failure to thrive’ in every other company I’ve been associated with, and why now I have 400 people in my organization in about 4 months!
    Must share!
