How to Have a Productive Day in Your Home Business: 2 Easy Tips
The one thing that can kill people’s chance of success as entrepreneurs is their bad habits, and it’s critical that you know how to have a productive day in your home business, and then actually stick to it!! As entrepreneurs, we are in control of our own schedules. It is not the responsibility of your sponsor, your Upline, your company leadership or your peers, for you to have a productive day in your home business.
Here are a couple tips for you to start seeing more dollars in your bank account.
Tip #1 To Have a Productive Day in Home Business
Every night before you go to sleep, write out what you want to get done for your business the next day. And put a star next to the 2 most important things that you want to get done, more than anything.
You might even want to keep your list next to your bed at night, so that if you think of something during your sleep, you can roll over, write it down and then go right back to sleep. (It will actually help you sleep more soundly).
Then the next day, do the things that you wrote out on your list. And for the 2 most important items, do your best to get them done before 11 am. That way, if other distractions DO get in your way during the day, then at LEAST you’ve done the 2 most important things, and you can still say you had a productive day in your home business.
I know personally, that for me, the nights that I write out what I want to get done the next day, I always have a productive day in my home business, but the nights that I don’t do this simple little task, then I almost always do not have a productive day.
The truth is that as home business owners, it is super easy to get distracted when you sit down to work on your home business. There are some things that will come up in your day, that at first glance you might think are distractions, but they are not. For example, caring for someone in your family (like a sick child, or aging parent or grandparent), or going to your child’s soccer game or school event. Those are GOOD things for you to be doing. They are Life events that give our lives meaning and purpose. And these things are things that should be scheduled into your day.
The distractions I’m talking about are things that come up during the time you’ve set aside to work your home business. Distractions like:
- taking phone calls unrelated to business during your business hours
- checking email going through Facebook or other social media (unless it’s specifically to message people for prospecting)
- doing the laundry
- walking the dog
- feeding the dog
All those “distractions” can be taken care of during the day, but don’t do it during the hours you’ve set aside for your business.
Tip #2 to Have a Productive Day in Home Business
Mark off a block of time in your calendar that you are dedicating to your business for that next day, and do not let any distractions, like the ones listed above, get in the way.
If you set aside 1-4 pm as the time to work your home business, then make sure you are sitting down, with your computer, phone, paper and whatever you need to work your business, and do not let other unnecessary distractions get in your way.
It might help to actually pretend that you are in an office environment away from home. If you were in a corporate environment, you probably wouldn’t get up from your desk to go feed the dog or do some laundry, right? So, do that at home.
I hope this information has been helpful. There are many ways to increase productivity for your home business, but I have given you just 2 very important ones, that even if you implemented just these, you will see big changes in your success rate and in your wallet.
