Why bother to recruit professionals? They are typically:
-willing to go after business
-good customer/client service
-know how to go after business
-have a good work ethic
-they are “professional”
-they are usually open to other streams of income
-and they usually have the start-up capital for a new business
The challenge with recruiting professionals is:
-you don’t know them
-they don’t know you
-they are more likely to be hostile towards you than your warm market
-they are usually very busy
-they want you to get to the point quickly
Calling professionals will certainly help you toughen your recruiting skin, because many of them might try to scare you off. You really have to have strong posture when calling them, because if you don’t, then they will posture you back and try to take control of the conversation.
Does it sound like I’m trying to scare you off? Absolutely not! I highly encourage you to call professionals. I was terrified when I first started calling them, but I did it anyway. I knew I’d mess up in the beginning. I knew some of them would get aggressive with me and take control of the conversation, but you know what? The experience made me a better recruiter.
