Have you had a setback in your MLM or Direct Sales business and you are finding it difficult to get going again and make things happen? Are you in a low point in your MLM business where you are not producing anything and don’t know why?
Do you keep saying you’ll get going in your business “tomorrow” or “next week”, only to find that tomorrow and next week never seem to turn into “today”?
So how do you get going again?
There could be many reasons why you might have a setback:
-Your health or
-Health of a family member/friend
-Marriage or divorce
-Primary job keeps you busy
Any number of life events could cause your business to come to a standstill. There will be peaks and valleys in your business life. You will have times when things are going well, and times when things seem to stall completely.
One of the keys to success in NM is to constantly be networking with people, meeting people, calling people, and prospecting. If you are not consistently prospecting, you will always struggle in your business.
So how do you get going again?
I’ll explain by sharing with you an experience I went through. Recently, I had a setback because I needed knee surgery. I knew that for a few days before surgery and for a week or two after, that I wouldn’t be able to make my prospecting calls. As you know, once you lose momentum, it can be challenging to get it back.
Going through surgery and recovery made me realize that there are many parallels between recovering from surgery recovering from a down time in your business:
Doctor- does an evaluation, gives you a diagnosis and a plan of care
MLM- go to your Upline or a mentor to help you diagnose or figure out why your business is not growing
My doctor- determined I needed knee surgery and then physical therapy rehab afterwards.
MLM- you and your Upline or mentor come up with a plan to rehab your business
Recovery- I started physical therapy 2 days, yes only 2 DAYS after surgery
MLM- to see lasting results, make changes immediately!
Rehab after surgery- start with small steps and little exercises (that is, on Day One, don’t expect to be running. But small steps will help increase strength, to help get to a point where running is possible)
MLM- begin prospecting again, immediately. One of the main keys to success in network marketing is to always be prospecting. Don’t start with 20-30 calls per day. Start with 3-5 phone calls. Baby steps. Then gradually increase until you are greater than 10 calls per day if you are looking to have success in this business. The trick is to be consistent, and make those calls daily.
Successful people do not make excuses. They stay in action even if they don’t feel like it. Life is busy; it is busy for everyone. If you are committed to your business, then do things that will draw you closer to the success you are seeking.
Successful people also did not get there overnight. Think about the people on stage for your company convention or at large local events. Do you think the most successful people got there instantly? No, of course not. But chances are, they worked hard and were very consistent and focused.
When you are in motion, it is much easier to keep going than to start and stop. Think of a giant, heavy wheel that you have to roll. It is so difficult to get the momentum going, but once you start pushing the wheel, it will eventually get easier. It is easier to keep up the pace with rolling it, than to start and stop, start and stop.
For you to get the success you want, one of the most important things to do is to GET INTO ACTION. If you don’t do it at all, you will not move forward, and you cannot recover.
Little steps consistently over time will lead to success.
